What are the choices and consequences for someone with a drug addiction?

the choices are simple whether to continue or not but it is not an easy one as the addiction feels like a high in life so can take the pain away for some time but the consequence is when you don't get the drug then the harsh reality of life smacks into your face leaving one depressed as they are dependant on something they cannot control
