Answer:

$4.50

Explanation:

Since there is a 50 % discount on the price, the new price is 100 % − 50 % = 50 % of the original price.

Let the original price be x . Then we have:

x ⋅ 50 % = $ 2.25

x ⋅ 1 2 = $ 2.25

x = $ 2.25 ⋅ 2 =

$ 4.50

So, the bottle of hand lotion's original price was $ 4.50 .

so 2.25 is 50% of the original price
let's write original price as x
50% of x = 2.25
0.5 * x = 2.25
divide both sides by 0.5
x = 4.5

The original price is 4.5

To check:
50% * (4.5) =?= 2.25
0.5 * 4.5 =?= 2.25
2.25 = 2.25

Hope this helps.
