Andrew has $8.85 in dimes and quarters. the number of dimes he has is 3 more than twice his number of quarters. How many quarters does Andrew have?

If you discard the extra 3 dimes, Andrew has groups of 2 dimes and a quarter that add to $8.55. Since the value of each of those groups is $0.45, Andrew has
.. 8.55/0.45 = 19
of them.

Andrew has 19 quarters.
