The correct answer is C. Great Britain taxed the colonies but did not allow them to participate in politics.


This was called taxation without representation and was heavily disliked by the colonists who wanted to have representatives with political power in the British parliament. It was just one of the numerous grievances that the colonists presented as troublesome and that the British empire didn't care about since they believed they could do anything they wished with the colonies.
