Self employed means for example you have any kind of business of yours. It means your self employed no need to find out job and no one even consider you as a unemployed. And you can give others job when your self employed.

Unemployment is kinda situation that unemployed suffering. Means if person having skill and willing to do work and trying hard to get that but unable to get job it is unemployment and that person is unemployed
