Use the F.O.I.L. Method:
First, then Outer, then Inner, and lastly the Last
The first are the ones on on the left:
2x • x = 2x^2
Next the outer are the left × the right:
2x • 1 = 2x
Then the inner are the right × the left:
9 • x = 9x
Last ones are the right × the right:
9 • 1 = 9
Add them all together

2 {x}^(2) + 2x + 9x + 9 \\ 2 {x}^(2) + 11x + 9
a) 2x2 + 11x + 9

Hope that explanation helps you with future factoring problems!! :-)
