You are playing touch football with some friends on a rainy day. during a breakaway play, your friend slips in the mud and falls flat on his back. you are not sure if he struck his head, but he seems winded, disoriented, and has trouble keeping his eyes open. what might be wrong with your friend, and what should you do to treat him?

When the hard skull hits the ground, the brain keeps accelerating. It slams into the skull and is compressed. Being "winded" happens when your lungs get jarred. That usually goes away in 60 seconds if it is the only injury. Being disoriented means that the brain was hurt. But that can clear up in 60 seconds. Trouble keeping his eyes open in the key to the diagnosis. The neuron pathways to the brain are not working properly. He has to go to the emergency room. ( add me on snap chat: zayahboo)
