.. (i)
an initial velocity, Vo, in feet per second
(ft/s)
vin ft/s = 42 ft/s
† is time in seconds = 4 seconds
Putting the values in (i) , we get
42 = Vo - 32 x 4
multiply
42 = Vo - 128
add 128 to both sides
42 + 128 = Vo - 128 + 128
Simplify and add
170= Vo
Hence, the initial velocity of an object = 170
ft/s
