0 = 1/4x + 4 start by subtract 4 to get
-4 = 1/4x then multiply each side by 4/1 to get x alone
4/1 * -4/1= x
-16 = x
To check: 0 = 1/4 (-16) + 4
0=0

First you subtract 4 to get it to the other side. Now the equation is -4=1/4x. Next, multiply both sides by 4 to isolate the x. Now you have -16=x.
