The answer is reference group. Individuals whose outlooks, conduct, principles, sentiments, favorites, and standards are used by a person as the foundation for his or her judgment. One does not have to be an associate of a reference group to be harmfully or definitely prejudiced by its individualities. So in the problem, when he looks for cues on how to act as a basketball player this shows he made them as a basis on how to act.
