since the degree of the numerator is the same as the degree of the denominator, then the horizontal asymptote is at


\bf f(x)=\cfrac{\underline{-2} x}{\underline{1} x+1}\implies \stackrel{horizontal~asymptote}{y=\cfrac{-2}{1}\implies y=-2}
