This seems like your best bet here.

In this case, it states that a tremendous amount of preparation is involved which is another way of saying that a lot of time and effort was spent before the play could be produced to the masses. The implication of a lot of preparation is that, if it takes a long time to do, at least it will be worth it in the end.

The Greeks went the other way with this idea. Back in those days it was much tougher to put together a production!
