The school of psychology called structuralism used a technique called introspection.

Introspection refers to the phenomenon where people self-reflect and observe their own conscious thoughts, beliefs, sensations and affects. The theory of structuralism- that involves the use of introspection- was first introduced by the psychologist, Wilhelm Wundt, in 1879.
