A teacher wants to buy some oranges for her twenty-four students to share for a snack. Each orange will be cut into eight slices. Each student will have four orange slices to eat for a snack. How many oranges does the teacher need to buy? Show all mathematical thinking.

The teacher will need to buy 12 oranges. The answer is 12 because if she has 24 students and wants to give them 4 a piece just divide 12 by 2 and you will get 6 and 6 times 4 is 24. the answer is 12. 1 orange can feed 2 kids so 1 orange=2 kids, 2 oranges=4 kids so on and so on then you get to 12 oranges=24 kids. hope this helps
