Ramiro did a survey of the number of pets owned by his classmates.

The mean deviation of the pets is the average of absolute deviation from the mean

The mean deviation of the number of pets is given by ∑ | x - Mean of x | / ∑f

where, x is the number of pets owned by his classmates

Mean of x is the arithmetic mean of average of the number of pets

| x - Mean of x | is the positive difference of pets owned by each classmates with the average number of pets

∑ | x - Mean of x | is the sum total of all the differences

∑f is the sum total of all the pets owned by his classmates
