Drug use and gambling are known as victimless crimes, or acts that primarily hurt the people who commit them. Our society, calls them crimes because they go against common values.

Should there be laws against acts that do not hurt any innocent people? How can a prison sentence change a drug addict or compulsive gambler for the better? Write an argument.

The right decision can change any person who wants it to change them.

There is no law that says you cant gamble or drink above the age of 21, but if you are younger it can result in up to a 20 year prison sentance. Even death. Intoxication has been a horrible problem for over 50 years. Drunk drivers have killed various people.

But anyways back to the point. You can choose to change for the better or the worst. If you change for the better you are 20% more likely to live longer. But if you change for the worst, you 20% less likely to live longer. Therefore if you choose to improve for the better, your life becomes more positive.

Example: Smoking/ Drinking.
Ever watched that chantix commercial? Were the man has a baby and that was his insparation to quit smoking? His life changed for the better because if he would have never stopped smoking he could've ended up in the hospital in intisave care, or maybe even died, and never saw his daughter grow up.

So, in conclusion. Change for the better, not the worst.
