-1/2 - (-2/5)

When you subtract a negative number, you add that number

-1/2 + 2/5

Now we need to find a common denominator

-1/2 x 5/5 = -5/10
2/5 x 2/2 = 4/10

-5/10 + 4/10 = -1/10

The answer is -1/10

-1/2 -(-2/5) = -1/10

= -1/2- (-2/5)
= -1/2 + 2/5
find common denominator (2 goes in 10 five times; 5 goes in 10 twice)
= -(5*1)/10 + (2*2)/10
= -5/10 + 4/10
= -1/10

Hope this helps! :)
