No choices given. Here's how you solve this.

35 - x/4 = x/3

subtract x/3 from both sides
35 - x/4 - x/3= 0

need a common denominator
4 & 3 go into 12

35 - (4/12x) - (3/12x)= 0
35 - 7/12x= 0

subtract 35 from both sides
-7/12x= -35

multiply by -12/7 to eliminate fraction
(-12/7)(-7/12x) = (-35)(-12/7)
x= (-35 * -12)/7
x= 420/7
x= 60

Check:
35 - x/4 = x/3
35 - 60/4= 60/3
35 - 15= 20
20= 20

Hope this helps! :)

You can multiply both sides of the equation by 12 to remove the fractions.

12(35 - x/4) = 12(x/3)

420 - 12x/4 = 12x/3

420 - 3x = 4x

Add 3x to both sides:

420 = 7x

Divide 7 to both sides:

x = 60
