Hello!
Merchants helped to promote a cultural rebirth in Europe by funding and supporting art.
One example is the Medici Family, wealthy bankers who became patrons of many artists in Florence like Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli.
Another example is Giovanni Tornabuoni, an Italian banker who supported the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio and ordered a great number of frescoes for a church in Florence, who was later called the Tornabuoni Chapel.
