Look at the five sentences below. They are all about the same topic. By comparing them, which sentence would you conclude to be biased?

1Roughly ten illegal immigrants are caught at the border each day.

2In ten days, about one hundred illegal immigrants were stopped at the border.

3Says agent Radcliffe, "At my post, less than fifteen illegal immigrants are caught daily."

4A ridiculously high number of illegal immigrants are caught at the border every day.

5The Border Patrol estimates that about ten illegal immigrants are caught at the border each day, for everyone caught, the BP estimates that six get away.

4a is biased, because it offers an opinion instead of an actual fact. The word "ridiculously" is the word, that makes the sentence biased!

Hope this helps!

Answer:

4- A ridiculously high number of illegal immigrants are caught at the border every day.

Step-by-step explanation:

Remember that something that is biased is showing unreasonable like or dislike for something based on personal opinion, in other words, it tends to be subjective. In this case, all sentences, except the number 4, are telling us facts. They present the information as they found it, without any emotional charge, they limit themselves to present the data and information given by authorities. The fourth sentence uses the word "ridiculously" which shows us that the author has already taken a position towards the issue, the authors think that the amount of immigrants caught is unreasonable high, expressing an opinion.
