If you were a solider in the Union Army, in what way were your spiritual needs addressed? There was simply not enough time to dedicate to the troops' spirituality. The government did not provide any sort of religious education to troops. Church services were held on a monthly basis for troops. Organized, spiritual guidance was provided to the troops through chaplains.

Answer: Organized, spiritual guidance was provided to the troops through chaplains.

Step-by-step explanation:

Military chaplains, who were clergymen of many faiths and denominations, provided a necessary religious service, in both Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. Religion was important, as the country was going through the Third Great Awakening.

Most chaplains were protestant preachers, but there were also Catholic priests and Jewish rabbis. They provided moral and spiritual guidance to soldiers that were facing violence and death on the battlefield regardless of their religious ideas.
