Beowulf is courageous and galiant. He chooses to battle the beast Grendel with his bear hands because he views himself equal to the slayer of men. In his plan he allows the loss of one of his men's life. He becomes more overconfident and arrogant with each victory. Beowulf seems greedy for fame, or just way too confident, which leads to his demise at the hands of a dragon.
