The electoral college has many weaknesses. Several reform plans have been suggested to strengthen these weaknesses. Which plan would use popular votes to decide how many electoral votes a candidate would get\

The Direct National Vote is a system that involves the counting of every vote the citizens have made. After the count, if no candidate has reached a previously accorded percentage of votes, then the 2 candidates that have the majority of votes enter a Runoff Voting. The voting is then decided by exactly the same principle as in the first round. After the official vote counting, the candidate that has the majority of the votes is declared as the winner.

The people who support this voting system argue that, besides eliminating the contradiction of the losing of the candidate who wins the popular vote against the candidate who wins the electoral college vote, it also favors the entry of third-party candidates and grants them a better chance of winning.
