It means kenny paid (0.5×49.96) for the third shirt which is 24.98
For the first three shirts he paid 49.96
The total cost would therefore be;
49.96+49.96+24.98 = 124.9
Adding a tax of 7.1% the total cost becomes;
1.071 ×124.9 = 133.7679
The mean cost per shirt will therefore be;
133.7679/3
= 44.5893
