Treisman's "Attenuation model" predict we cannot consciously attend to all of our sensory input at the same time.
The stage "Dictionary Unit" in Treisman's "attenuation model" has a threshold component. This stage contains words and each word has a threshold for being detected. Example: the person's name has a low threshold (it will be easily detected). The word rutabaga has higher threshold (it used less or are less important to this particular listener.)
