rich is building a travel crate for his dog, Thomas,a beagle mix who is about30 inches long 12 inches wide and 24 inches long. For Thomas to safely travel his crate needs to be rectangular prism that is about12 inches greater than his length and width and 6 inches greater than his height. What is the volume of the travel crate that rich should build.

The dimension of the dog
The length of the dog
ld = 30 inches
The width of the dog
wd = 12 inches
The heigth of the dog
hd = 24 inches

Determine the dimension of the crate which is a rectangular prism.
The length of the crate is 12 inches greater than the length of the dog
lc = ld + 12
lc = 30 + 12
lc = 42
The length of the crate is 42 inches

The width of the crate is 12 inches greater than the width of the dog
wc = wd + 12
wc = 12 + 12
wc = 24
The width of the crate is 24 inches

The height of the crate is 6 inches greater than the height of the dog
hc = hd + 6
hc = 24 + 6
hc = 30

Calculate the volume of the crate
Volume of the crate is determined using formula of rectangular prism volume
v = l × w × h
v = lc × wc × hc
v = 42 × 24 × 30
v = 30,240
The volume of the crate is 30,240 in³
