Ocotillo plants are a native species of the desert ecosystem. The correct answer is a. Ocotillo plants are known as succulents. This means that their leaves have a distinct adaptation which allows it to store water. the leaves are the main water storage organs in succulents. Desert and semi arid plants developed this adaptation to store water as it seldom rains in these regions. The leaves are thick with sap(water) and waxy. These leaves prevent or reduce water loss due to the process of transportation.
