Read the sentence from a sample cover letter Why did the tax auditor cross the road?

I did it to catch the thief. But seriously, I have a Master's degree in Finance and have worked as a tax auditor for ten years.
What is the weakness in this sentence?
A. It attempts to be humorous.
B. It provides irrelevant information.
C. It understates the candidate's qualifications.
D. It overstates the candidate's qualifications.

I would have to say that it would be between letter choice A) and B) but I'd have to say that A) is the most logical explanation.

Therefore, attempting to be humorous on a cover letter sounds naive and childish, and whoever writes a cover letter wants to be taken seriously.
