After the annexation of Texas, Sam Houston later served as a Senator for Texas.

Samuel Houston was an American statesman, politician, and soldier. Originally from the state of Virginia, Houston is a key figure in the history of Texas, as he held the positions of president of the Republic of Texas, and senator and governor of the state of Texas after it was integrated into the United States.

After the annexation of Texas by the United States in 1845, he was elected to the US Senate, together with Thomas Jefferson Rusk. Houston served there from February 21, 1846, until March 4, 1859.
