James bought a plant and planted it in a pot near a window in his house. The initial height of the plant was 6 inches and it grew at a rate of 3 inches per month. Make a table of values and then write an equation for H, in terms of t, representing the height, in inches, of the plant t months after James bought the plant.

initial height = 6

Rate of growth = 3 inches per month

Table:

Month height 1

96+3(3) = 91

2 6 + 3 (2)=12

3 6+3 (3) = 15

Apply the formula:

H = H0 + rt

Where:

H0 = initial growth

r = growing rate

t= number of months

Replacing:

H(t) = 6 + (3 t)
