the answer is C. I say that because the opposite of 5 is -5 the opposite of 2 is -2 and the opposite of -8 is +8.

I think it is D because an additive inverse will be added to it and equal 0 so 5+2(x-8y) or you can multiply the whole thing by -1 making it -5-2(x-8y)
