Start with the point B (-1, -4). Reflect the point through the y-axis. What are the new coordinates of the point B’? Now reflect the point through the x-axis. What are the new coordinates of the point B’’? What is the relationship between the original point B and B’’? Can you describe this in terms of one reflection?

B reflected over the y axis would be B1(-1, 4) and B reflected over the x-axis B(1, -4). The point being reflected will always have the same distance from the axes, but depending on what quadrant the point is in, it will either be a positive or negative number.
