To find the area of a compound shape, you need to split it into regular shapes.
You can split this shape into 3 regular shapes- 2 rectangles and 1 square.

Area of 1st rectangle:
7 × 2 = 14 cm²

Area of 2nd rectangle:
2 + 3 = 5
5 × 2 = 10 cm²

Area of square:
2 × 2 = 4 cm²

Now, add them all together.
14 + 10 + 4 = 28 cm²

Answer: The area of this shape is 28cm².
