The dependent variable is the thing that changes as a result of what has been done to it. In this instance the diameter of the balloon will change once the experiment has been done.

Answer: The dependent variable is change in diameter.

Step-by-step explanation:

The independent variable can be defined as the factors or characters which can be changed according to the need of the experiment.

The change in independent variable impacts the result of the experiment. The dependent variable cannot be changed.

In this experiment the diameter of the balloon is dependent on the type of environment in which the balloon will be kept.

Hence, the dependent variable is change in diameter.
