The antagonist, or "bad guy" of the story, is the protagonist's, or "good guy/ main character of the story's" "enemy," or opposing force.

The antagonist is in direct conflict with the main character in a story, or the protagonist. The protagonist usually undergoes some significant internal change in a story, but not always.
