joe, adam and laura are driving up north to a cabin for the weekend. the trip is 65 miles round trip. joe drove for 20 miles, adam drove 35 miles and laura drove 10. what percentage did each friend drive? (plz explain the answer)

With percentage in the question, you divide the miles they drove by the total miles in the trip (and of course multiply it by 100).
Joe:

(20)/(65) =.3077
.3077 times 100= 31% (just rounded the percentage to the nearest whole number).
Adam:

(35)/(65) =.5385
.5385 times 100= 54%
Laura:

(10)/(65) =.1538
.1538 times 100= 15%
