Find the vertical asymptote(s) and hole for the graph of
y=(x+6) (x+12)/(x+8)(x+1)

If the denominator is (x + 8)(x + 1), then you need to see which values of x would cause the denominator to be zero.

x + 8 = 0
x = -8

x + 1 = 0
x = -1

The vertical asymptotes have equations

x = -8 and x = -1
