A new homeowner buys 120 square feet of carpet for a room in her new house. If the room is square, what is the length of each side of the room? (Recall that the area of a square is calculated by 2003-04-02-00-00_files/i0170000.jpg, where l is the length of one side.)

So we can solve by,

{x}^(2) = 120

Simply take the root of 120 and get,

x = 2 √(30)

Or 2 × the square root of 30.

2 √(30 ) ≈10.94446
