(5x-9)/(4) = -2

Multiply both sides of the equation by 4.


5x - 9 = -8

Add 9 to both sides of the equation.


5x = 1

Divide by 5.


x = (1)/(5) // answer



Check:


(5( (1)/(5) ) - 9)/(4) = -2


(-8)/(4) = -2


-2 = -2

Therefore, the answer is correct.
