3 + .75 - x = 5(.25)
3.75 - x = 1.25
-3.75 -3.75
-x=-2.5
x=2.5

She starts out with 3 dollars, and then she found 75 cents. 5 quarters are equal to $1.25.
The equation would be: (3 + 0.75) - 1.25
