well I'm a cartoonist and see if you where really going to characterize a person the author gives you great details


For Example the king was humble to his people he was always nice and kind so that's propyl why they chose him see details

What the narrator says about the character and What others say about the character.

For example, if you're watching a TV show and other characters keep mentioning how smart the protagonist is, you (the viewer) can assume he has high intelligence.
