A tree is 25 7/12 feet high. Richard cuts off the top 8 7/8 feet. How tall is the tree now?

Answer:

17 28/96 or simplify it to 17 7/18

Explanation:

Since the denominators 12 and 8 share a common factor of 96 i did.

7 * 8 =56 7 *12 = 84

12 * 8 = 96 8 *12 = 96


25(56)/(96)
8(84)/(96)

Subtracted 25 -8 got 17 and did 84-56 and gotten 28.

Gotten
17(28)/(96) then simplified and got
17(7)/(18) since a common factor of 28 and 96 so happened to be 4
