Answer: Expression 1) Neither of these.

Expression 2) Find the dollar amount of the tax, then added it to the price before tax.

Expression 3) Neither of these.

Expression 4) find the percentage of the original price Jack has to pay, then convert the percentage to a decimal and multiply to the final price.

Explanation:

Let the price of the diamond pony be $P.......(1)

Diamond pony tax percentage =25%

Diamond pony tax amount= 25% of P......(2)

=0.25 of P=$0.25 P............(3)

Case 1) If we add tax amount to the Price of diamond pony then it gives

P+0.25P......(by adding (1) and (3))

=P(1+0.25)........(by taking P as common outside )

=P(1.25)=1.25P......> which is the original price which jack has to pay.

Case 2) Now if we add (1) and (2),we get

P+25%of P=100%P+25%P......(as it doesn't make any difference∵100% of P =P)

=(100+25)%P(by taking P as common outside )

=125%P=1.25P......> which is the original price which jack has to pay.
