1 dozen = 12........so 12 dozen eggs is (12 * 12) = 144 eggs

she sold 5/6 of the eggs.....so she sold : 5/6 * 144 = 720/6 = 120 eggs
she gave her friends (144 - 120) = 24 eggs

(a) 12x = 120.....with x being the number of dozens of eggs
x = 120/12
x = 10 <== she gave away 10 dozen eggs

(b) she sold a dozen for 4.50....
4.50x = E .......x = the number of dozens of eggs sold and E = total earned. She sold 10 dozen...so sub in 10 for x
4.50(10) = E
45 = E <=== she earned $ 45 from the eggs she sold

12 dozen = 12 x 12 = 144

She sold 5/6 to the farmer's market

144 x 5 = 720

720/6 = 120

She sold 120 to the farmers market, or 10 dozens.

Multiply 10 with $4.50

10 x 4.50 = 45

She earned $45.

She gave 1/6 away, or 24 eggs.

24/12 = 2

She gave away 2 dozen eggs.

hope this helps
