Jade(a green gemstone) has a density of 3.6g/ml. If a sample displaces 35.5mL of water, what is the jades's mass?

hey there!:

Mass = ?

Volume = 35.5 mL

density = 3.6 g/mL

By the definition of density :

D = m / V

3.6 = m / 35.5

m = 3.6 * 35.5

m = 127.8 g

hope this helps!

Answer is: mass of a green gemstone is 127.8 grams.

d(jade) = 3.6 g/mL; density of jade.

V(jade) = 35.5 mL; volume of jade.

m(jade) = d(jade) · V(jade).

m(jade) = 3.6 g/mL · 35.5 mL.

m(jade) = 127.8 g; mass.

Density is a measure of mass per unit of volume (in this example grams per milliliter).
