You and your friends have 350 to spend on fishing licenses and fishing poles. It costs 100 for five licenses. Write and solve an equation to find the maximum amount that each person can spend on a fishing pole

(350 - 100) ÷ 5 = x

Total amount of money subtracted from the cost of the fishing licenses.. Total money you have left to use to buy fishing poles divided by 5 (as there are 5 people). This should an equal amount that each person can spend on a fishing pole, which is x.
