On a family day out, a couple’s three-year-old gets concerned midway through the trip that she left her favorite doll behind and there is no one to feed her. What would be an appropriate response to the child’s concern?

a) telling the child to quiet down and look at the sights
b) explaining to the child that the doll does not require food
c) stopping at a convenience store and buying the child another doll
d) listening to the child attentively and trying to work out a solution together

This will help teach the child to work things out rationally, as well as give a life lesson.
