The answer is 4 because you can fit 2 1/4 cups of sugar in one jar since it holds 1/2. So, if she is making 8 cakes with 2 cups of sugar total she will need 4 jars.

You will need 4 jars because 1:4 is half of 1/2 and 4 is half of 8
