Another name could be anabolism.

Biosynthesis is a process in which substrates are converted into more complex products with the help of enzymes.
Substrate + Substrate ----(enzyme)---------> Product

Unlike chemical synthesis, biosynthesis occurs within living organisms and is a vital part of metabolism pathways.
