4x + 3 = -5x - 7 Add 5x to both sides.
4x + 3 + 5x = -5x - 7 + 5x
9x + 3 = -7 Subtract 3 from both sides.
9x + 3 - 3 = -7 - 3
9x = -10 Divide both sides by 9
9x / 9 = -10 / 9
Your answer can either be 1.11111... or it would be x = -10/9
